SA: Holden posts strong profit result

ADELAIDE, Feb 27 AAP - Surging exports powered local car and engine producer Holden
Ltd to an after-tax profit of $237.4 million for 2000.

The company said today the result compared to a $135 million profit in 1999 and also
forecast increased local demand in 2001 and a further improvement in international business
over the next five years.

Export sales rose 34 per cent to $1.3 billion including $780 million from vehicles
and spare parts and $450 million from engines.
